Faroese government employees consumed more than 16 million cups of coffee in 2025, according to procurement data from the national tax agency, Gjaldstovan.

Public institutions purchased nearly 12 tonnes of coffee for 1.3 million kroner last year. The tax agency is now seeking bids for framework agreements to streamline purchases and secure better prices.

Five separate framework agreements will be established, allowing around 80 public institutions to choose their preferred supplier. The first covers Merrild, the most purchased brand in 2025, followed by Karat. The third focuses on the cheapest coffee, the fourth on quality and taste at a reasonable cost, and the fifth on coffee beans.

Bids for the coffee framework agreements must be submitted by 28 August. The tax agency is also inviting tenders for framework agreements on office supplies, tyres, oil changes, and IT equipment.
