Midsummer return traffic picks up Sunday morning

Return traffic from Midsummer celebrations will intensify Sunday morning and remain heavy across southern Finland until evening, according to Fintraffic.

While return traffic is lighter than the outbound surge, congestion is still possible. Real-time updates on road and rail conditions, including disruptions and roadworks, are available via the Fintraffic Mobile app.

Before driving, motorists are urged to assess their fitness to be behind the wheel. Petteri Harjuvaara, a specialist at the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom, noted in a release that the sleepless Midsummer night can stretch into the early hours. “Ask yourself: have I had enough sleep? And if I celebrated, am I truly fit to drive?” he said.
