Motorcyclist flees police through Helsinki
A motorcyclist in his 40s led police on a chase through eastern Helsinki on Saturday evening, repeatedly driving on light traffic paths crowded with pedestrians, according to a report by Yle.
The pursuit began on Kontulantie in Mellunmäki when police attempted to stop the rider, who was speeding. The motorcyclist evaded officers, driving at high speed back toward Kontula, then through Vesala and into Vuosaari, where police motorcyclists continued the chase.
Officers finally stopped the man on Kallvikintie and arrested him. He is suspected of aggravated endangerment of traffic safety, drunk driving, and driving without a valid license. Charges may be adjusted as the investigation proceeds.
The chase ended before 9 pm, Helsinki police command center confirmed to Yle.
