Homicide investigation opened after fatal assault in Varkaus

Police in Varkaus have launched a homicide investigation after a person died from injuries sustained in a violent assault, Yle reports.

The emergency services were alerted to the incident on the evening of Midsummer Eve, around 8 p.m. The victim later succumbed to their injuries.

The attack took place in a detached house in Varkaus. Authorities confirmed there was no threat to the public. Two individuals were detained at the scene. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
