One dead after boat capsizes in Mikkeli

One person died after a boat capsized on Lake Louhijärvi in Mikkeli early Friday, according to Yle.

Emergency services received a report of a water traffic accident on Louhijärventie at 4:24 a.m. Four people were thrown into the water when the boat overturned, and three managed to swim to a nearby island.

Divers from the South Savo Rescue Department later recovered the body of the fourth person.

Police in Eastern Finland said the group consisted of four young men, all of legal age, who were in a rowboat. None were wearing life jackets.

Authorities are investigating the incident as a death inquiry.
