Faroese police have detained a Swedish man wanted for serious crimes, following a request from Swedish authorities, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested without incident early Friday morning, according to a police duty officer. He arrived in the Faroe Islands less than a week ago and is currently held in custody at Varðhaldin in Mjørkadalur.

Swedish police sought his detention for offenses classified as “persónsfarligt brotsverk” (personal endangerment crimes), with a minimum sentence of seven years. The alleged crimes occurred in May of this year.
