Faroese and Danish leaders discuss transport, autonomy, and drug prevention

Faroese Prime Minister Beinir Johannesen met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Danish Justice Minister Nicolai Wammen in Copenhagen on Thursday, reports Faroese public broadcaster KVF.

The leaders discussed transport links between the Faroe Islands and Denmark, as well as the Faroese push for greater autonomy within the Nordic Council and the International Olympic Committee. Johannesen also raised the possibility of closer cooperation with the EU.

In separate talks with Wammen, Johannesen emphasized joint efforts to prevent the spread of drugs and drug abuse in the Faroe Islands, framing it as a shared social responsibility.
