High pollen levels to mar Midsummer for allergy sufferers
Sweden’s Midsummer weekend will bring high grass pollen levels across much of the country, according to a warning issued by the Nordic Museum’s Pollen Report.
The highest risk covers Götaland, Svealand, and the southern and central coastal areas of Norrland. Elevated levels are also expected in northern Norrland, parts of central Norrland’s coast, and large sections of Värmland, Dalarna, and inland Norrland, particularly during settled weather.
Elsewhere in Sweden, the risk is lower, though areas near tall grass may see increased exposure. The period marks the start of peak grass pollen season in southern Sweden, where many meadow grasses are now in full bloom.
