Four people were rescued from a stalled ride at Helsinki’s Linnanmäki amusement park on Thursday after the Salama attraction came to a halt mid-operation, Yle reports.

The stranded car, suspended about five metres above ground, carried both adults and children. They waited roughly half an hour for rescue, using ladders and secured by ropes to descend safely. No injuries were reported.

Fire chief Petri Strandberg said the group remained calm throughout the incident. The car stopped above water after coming to rest beside another ride.

Park staff called emergency services, and fire crews arrived quickly. Strandberg noted that Linnanmäki and the fire department maintain close cooperation, including joint drills before each season.

The cause of the malfunction is not yet known.
