Two Swedish suspects extradited from UAE to Sweden

Two Swedish citizens have been transferred from the United Arab Emirates to detention in Sweden, police announced on Thursday.

One man, arrested in Dubai in 2023, was internationally wanted on suspicion of serious accounting fraud and tax evasion, according to authorities.

The second man, described by police as a leader in a criminal network, was detained in the UAE last year. He is suspected of large-scale drug smuggling and drug offenses.

Sweden has a standing legal cooperation agreement with the UAE, police noted in a statement.
