Prosecutors in Eastern Finland have decided not to press defamation charges against Lappeenranta city councillor Linda Brandt-Ahde (National Coalition Party), Yle reports.

The alleged offence stemmed from a heated exchange at the cash desk of Lauritsala swimming pool in January 2025. Brandt-Ahde, arriving for a swim, was told by staff that her season pass had expired. She insisted it still had visits remaining.

The dispute escalated into a verbal confrontation, during which Brandt-Ahde was suspected of defaming the cashier.

Police in Southeast Finland initially dropped the investigation, but the regional prosecutor ordered it reopened in November 2025.
