Tórshavn launches school meal program for 500 students

Tórshavn municipality is seeking a head chef for a new school meal program aimed at ensuring students receive a daily hot lunch, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

The initial phase will serve 500 students across three schools: the middle school in Fløtum, the primary school in Eystur, and all classes at Kollafjørður school. Meals will be prepared in the production kitchen at Fløtum school.

The full-time position, funded in part by user fees, runs through December 31, 2027, with a start date of September 1 or as otherwise agreed. Applications close July 20.

Surveys indicate strong interest among parents and students, with many already signed up for the program.
