Norway faces high probability of warmer-than-normal summer
Norway is likely to experience a warmer-than-normal summer across the country, according to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute’s seasonal forecast for July, August, and September.
Meteorologist Camilla Albersten told Dagbladet there is a high probability the season will be warmer than usual, with little chance of it being colder.
Nearly all regions show a 70% likelihood of above-normal temperatures, except Trøndelag and Western Norway, where the probability drops to 65%.
Eastern Norway and Agder are expected to see drier conditions, with the lowest probability of excessive rainfall. In contrast, Northern Norway is now forecast to have a wetter season, a shift from the institute’s previous uncertainty about precipitation levels there.
Central and Western Norway show no clear trend, with near-equal chances of wet, dry, or normal conditions.
Short-term forecasts suggest the current low-pressure dominance will persist into next week, bringing occasional rain—particularly in Northern and Central Norway—while Eastern Norway may see some improvement.
