Open AI to open Stockholm office

The American company behind the AI service ChatGPT, Open AI, will open its first Nordic office in Stockholm during the second half of 2026, Swedish public broadcaster SVT reports.

Sweden is one of the company’s fastest-growing markets in Europe, with a rising number of users, according to Open AI. The decision was also influenced by Sweden’s attractive startup environment and many successful companies.

“Sweden has one of Europe’s most advanced tech ecosystems and sharp engineering talent,” Emmanuel Marill, Open AI’s managing director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, said in a press release.

Aid and foreign trade minister Benjamin Dousa (M) expressed strong satisfaction with the decision, calling it “proof of Sweden’s position as one of the world’s leading tech nations.”
