The Southeast Finland Border Guard is currently in the process of culling a pack of wild dogs near Rajapatsas in Imatra. The police granted permission for this action to ensure the safety of local residents, as the wild dogs have exhibited threatening behavior towards the community in recent days.

According to police reports, the wild dogs have approached people and residential areas, prompting concerns about the safety of those living near the border. Authorities have stated that there is no threat to bystanders from the situation.

This is not the first instance of wild dog sightings in Imatra; in recent years, there have been multiple encounters. These dogs typically originate from across the eastern border in Russia. For example, in July last year, police received several reports of a pack of wild dogs in the Imatra area, with sightings indicating they had attempted to attack domestic rabbits and a pet dog.

In February 2019, there were numerous reports of wild dog packs roaming the city, with sightings occurring throughout the month. These packs typically consisted of seven to eight dogs.

The situation is being monitored, and further updates will be provided as necessary.
