Kirsi Varhila appointed director of Kela

Kirsi Varhila has been appointed director of Finland’s Social Insurance Institution (Kela), the national agency announced on Wednesday.

She will take up the post in August, overseeing national client services, local customer service, and information services. The director may also serve as acting director-general when required.

Varhila previously worked as permanent secretary at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, as a director at a regional state administrative agency, and as director of the Satakunta wellbeing services county.
