Additional departments will relocate to the new H-building at the Faroese national hospital in Tórshavn this autumn, following delays in the transition, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The maternity and internal medicine wards are scheduled to move in after the summer break, joining the emergency department, which transferred operations last weekend.
The shift to the H-building has faced repeated setbacks since the first patients were admitted nearly two and a half years ago. Progress stalled due to budget overruns, additional work requirements, and a shortage of doctors.
On 3 March, during the election campaign, the Løgting approved an extra 32.8 million kroner for the project. A significant portion of these funds will address outstanding issues, including sealing gaps, replacing doors and windows, and rectifying defects in the building.
The full relocation is now expected to be completed by October.
