Government proposes road tax for foreign vehicles in Sweden

The government has proposed a new plan to secure funding for road paving and other improvements to the road network.

This fall, a legislative proposal will be presented to implement a limited toll, or road tax, on foreign vehicles.

The government also intends for electric vehicles to pay the same road tax, or weight fee, as conventional cars, based on their weight.

A proposal regarding this will be submitted to the parliament in the spring, according to the legislative agenda.
