Icelandic president to visit Faroe Islands next week

Iceland’s president, Halla Tómasdóttir, and her partner, Björn Skúlason, will visit the Faroe Islands from 22 to 24 June, Faroese public broadcaster KVF reports.

The prime minister will host the visit. On Monday, they will tour Tórshavn, including the parliament building Løgtingið, before the prime minister hosts a dinner at Hotel Føroyar.

On Tuesday, the delegation will travel to Eysturoy, visiting the Eysturoyartunnilin tunnel, the MEST plant in Skála, the swimming hall in Runavík, and Bakkafrost. Later that day, they will go to Klaksvík to meet rowing champion Edward Fuglø at the Rótin cultural centre.

On Wednesday, they will visit the Hugskotið think tank and the Fróðskaparsetrið research centre at Sjóvinnuhúsið before attending a reception at Norðurlandahúsið.
