Nordic ministers agree to strengthen social cooperation

Nordic cooperation on social welfare and development will be strengthened following a meeting of the region’s ministers in Copenhagen, according to Faroese public broadcaster KVF.

The ministers decided to establish a new Nordic committee tasked with improving the handling of social security cases, promoting knowledge sharing, and expanding tools for closer and more structured collaboration at the Nordic level.

The new committee aims to create a more coherent and strategic framework for cooperation on social security and development across the Nordic countries, the ministers said in a joint statement.

The Nordic Council of Ministers’ secretariat has been commissioned to draft a new report on development, the Faroese foreign ministry confirmed in a later press release.
