The Faroese Teachers’ Union is waiting for an invitation to begin negotiations on a new collective agreement, according to a report by Faroese public broadcaster KVF.

Union chair Sanna á Løgmansbø confirmed that informal meetings have been held with the Municipal Employers’ Association and the wage department of the Ministry of Finance to discuss potential negotiation topics. However, no formal talks have started yet.

Though not part of the recent wage framework agreement between 12 public sector unions and the Ministry of Finance, the Teachers’ Union has no objections to its terms, which include a 3.87% wage increase from October 1 last year to September 30 this year.

Formal negotiations with the employers’ association and the Ministry of Finance are expected to begin later this summer.
