FBI Director Kash Patel said on X that the bureau thwarted a suspected plot to attack the UFC gala held this past weekend near the White House, with several individuals now in custody.
According to Patel, authorities received information about the potential threat on Wednesday, June 10. He stated that “planned attacks” had been stopped and that multiple people had been detained.
Fox News, citing unnamed sources, reported that five people were arrested on Monday, with 23 others suspected of discussing the alleged plans on the encrypted messaging app Signal. The suspected scheme involved using drones carrying explosives to force people to flee toward positioned shooters, followed by a plan to storm the White House, Fox News added.
