The Icelandic trawler Barði remains docked in Tórshavn after a fire broke out in its engine room late last Friday, reports Faroese public broadcaster KVF.

The crew has returned to Iceland, but the ship’s engineers are still in the Faroes assessing damage. A team from the ship’s owner, Síldarvinnslan, along with damage inspectors, arrived in Tórshavn over the weekend.

Repairs are expected to take at least four weeks, delaying the vessel’s planned July 10 departure for a mackerel fishing trip. The fire, caused by a hole in an oil line that sprayed oil onto the engine, left the ship without power. The five-person crew extinguished the flames themselves, and no injuries were reported.

Barði had been in the Faroes for repairs before heading to Iceland when the fire occurred.
