A Swedish man in his 30s wanted for aggravated drug trafficking and aggravated drug smuggling has been arrested in Turkey, Swedish police confirmed on their website.

The man, also suspected of aiding an attempted murder, has been internationally wanted since 2024 and is now in custody in Turkey. Police state he is believed to have sourced narcotics in Spain, smuggled them into Sweden, and distributed them in Stockholm.

He was detained in absentia in December 2024 and placed on an Interpol Red Notice. Swedish police received confirmation of his arrest in Turkey on Friday.

“We can confirm that a man has been arrested abroad following an international warrant issued by Swedish authorities. This is another good example of how international cooperation between law enforcement agencies works,” said Anders Wiberg, police superintendent and head of the international unit at Noa, the Swedish National Operations Department.
