A felted figurine of Bade Børge, created by Lis Gaarde-Johansen of Orø, has been shared over 114,000 times on Instagram, reports DR.
The sudden popularity appears to stem from the figure’s striking resemblance to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a similarity the creator was unaware of when making it. The post’s engagement surged after users from the Middle East noted the likeness.
Meta later classified the content as “sensitive,” removing it from Instagram, though the figure remains visible on Filtefabrikken’s Facebook page alongside other creations. The video originally featured Bade Børge with Stig Møller’s Sikke’n Dejlig Dag in the background.
Gaarde-Johansen has declined interview requests about the unexpected success.
