Major traffic jams have formed on key routes in and around Oslo due to roadworks, closed tunnels, and weekend travel, according to Dagbladet.

On Saturday afternoon, heavy congestion was reported on E18 westbound and E6 south of the capital. Roadworks at the new Fornebukrysset interchange on E18 are contributing to delays, with traffic near Lysaker reduced to a single lane in both directions. The Granfosstunnel is also closed.

Emil Øyen, a traffic operator at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s traffic control centre, confirmed the disruptions. “There’s a lot of congestion. Many people are heading west, which is causing knock-on effects across that side of the city,” he told Dagbladet.

Slow-moving traffic was also reported on Ring 3, while the Nordbytunnel on E6 remains closed due to technical issues with its ventilation system. A lane in the Nøstvettunnel is additionally shut to ensure emergency access.

“There are a lot of problems. We’re having to close on-ramps and issue warnings about the closures,” Øyen said.

The Roads Administration had previously announced lane restrictions and expected delays on E18 in Bærum this weekend due to the Fornebukrysset construction.
