A low-pressure system moving in from the southeast will bring heavy rain and strong winds across southern and central Finland this weekend, according to Yle.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute has issued wind warnings for large parts of southern, western, and northern Finland for Sunday. Rainfall may exceed 30 millimetres in some areas, particularly in Southwest Finland and Satakunta, while North and South Karelia and Kainuu can expect thunderstorms with 20–30 millimetres of rain.

By Sunday morning, the low-pressure centre will have shifted near Pori, with the rain belt stretching from the west coast to Kainuu. The heaviest rain will move into Sweden by Sunday afternoon, though winds will remain strong in southern Finland, with gusts reaching 15 metres per second on land—meeting the lowest wind warning threshold. Over the Selkämeri sea area and Merenkurkku, gusts could reach 21 metres per second.

Meteorologist Matti Huutonen of Yle noted that such storm readings are unusual for summer. If winds reach forecasted levels, the event could be classified as a summer storm. In regions like Satakunta and Pirkanmaa, Sunday morning gusts may hit 20 metres per second. Winds are expected to weaken by Sunday evening.
