Body found on uninhabited Lofoten island during beach cleanup
A body was discovered Friday on the shoreline of Mosken, an uninhabited island in the Lofoten archipelago, according to Nordland police.
Operations leader Tommy Bech told Dagbladet the discovery was made around 2 p.m. by volunteers conducting a beach cleanup on the island, which lies in Værøy municipality. Police secured the scene and conducted an investigation through the afternoon and evening.
The body will be sent for autopsy to determine identity, time of death, and possible cause, Bech told NRK. Authorities have opened a case and will check missing persons reports as part of the investigation.
