Swedish royal couple celebrates golden wedding anniversary

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia mark 50 years of marriage on Saturday, with celebrations beginning at Stockholm’s Royal Palace Church, SVT reports.
The couple, who wed on 19 June 1976, will attend a service at Slottskyrkan, followed by a procession through the capital, two public concerts, and a private supper at the palace. SVT’s live coverage starts at 10:30 from Grand Hôtel.
Scheduled events include a Te Deum service at 11:00, a rowing display with the Order of the Vasa at 14:00, the procession at 14:30, a concert in Kungsträdgården at 15:00, and an evening performance at the Royal Opera. The day concludes with a private dinner at 20:00.
In an interview ahead of the anniversary, Queen Silvia described the king as honest, open, and wise.
