The city of Ähtäri and the bankruptcy estate of Hotel Mesikämmenen have warned of misleading websites suggesting the hotel is still operational, public broadcaster Yle reports.

Hotel Mesikämmenen was placed into bankruptcy in October 2025 and no longer operates in the hotel and restaurant sector. City manager Perttu Sonninen said authorities were alerted on Thursday to two suspicious sites, one of which resembles the hotel’s former official pages.

“Hotel Mesikämmenen has no operations, and rooms cannot be booked through any channel,” Sonninen stressed. The city has contacted authorities, but the intent behind the sites remains unclear.

The hotel’s future is uncertain, with the city seeking a new operator. Negotiations are underway for the conference facilities, restaurant, and nightclub, while the outlook for accommodation services is less certain.

Ähtäri’s wildlife park also entered bankruptcy in October 2025 but has since been sold to a new operator and remains open for summer 2026.
