Earthquake recorded in Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland

A magnitude 3 earthquake was recorded in the Reykjanes Peninsula shortly after 9 PM tonight. According to the Icelandic Meteorological Office, several smaller tremors followed, but there are no indications of any unrest associated with this activity.
Earthquake swarms in this region are common. During an earthquake swarm in August 2023, the largest quake measured 4.5, while another in October 2022 was registered at 4.4. There have been no reports indicating that tonight’s tremor was felt in populated areas.
