A planned visit to Oslo by Gregory Bovino, the former field commander of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has been cancelled, the far-right Norgesdemokratene party confirmed.
Bovino was scheduled to attend the party’s ReMig26 conference this weekend, which focuses on the party’s policy of halting immigration and promoting the “remigration” of welfare-dependent and criminal immigrants. In a post on X on Thursday evening, Bovino stated that airline cancellations had prevented his travel.
“To my fellow compatriots in Norway, I am disheartened that I cannot fulfill your most gracious invitation to attend Remigrasjon26. I made it part way before airline cancellations halted travel,” he wrote.
The party responded on X, saying, “We look forward to Gregory coming at a later date.”
Another scheduled speaker, Lena Kotré of Germany’s far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), will still attend. According to Aftenposten, organisers have replaced a planned visit to Oslo’s Grønland district with a trip to Aker Brygge, citing a desire to “show Oslo’s better sides” to guests.
Bovino was dismissed from his ICE post in January following the fatal shootings of Renee Good (37) and Alex Pretti (37) in Minneapolis. US media reported at the time that his removal came after President Trump dispatched border official Tom Homan to Minnesota to take control of the situation.
In May, Bovino attended a remigration conference in Portugal organised by Austrian activist Martin Sellner, where he stated, “There is nowhere else I would rather be.”
