Faroese customs (TAKS) will strictly monitor all new synthetic drugs entering the country, director Eyðun Mørkøre said, following a warning from the European Drugs Agency (EUDA) about a surge in dangerous new substances across Europe.

Earlier this week, EUDA alerted member states to the growing prevalence of hazardous synthetic drugs. Kári Jacobsen, a police investigator, confirmed that Faroese police are also tracking multiple types of new synthetic drugs in the islands.

Mørkøre, who also heads the Faroese drugs monitoring unit, emphasized that TAKS is reinforcing its oversight in response to the EUDA alert, which he described as a matter of serious concern.
