Queen Margrethe appears in public for first time since surgeries

Queen Margrethe attended the awarding of the Prince Henrik Prize at Fredensborg Palace on Thursday, her first public appearance since her hospital stays, Danish broadcaster DR reports.

She used a walker during the event. The queen was discharged from Rigshospitalet on May 29 following her latest hospitalization.

The Prince Henrik Prize is awarded annually to a Danish poet and includes 300,000 kroner and a statuette of a sculpture created by Prince Henrik.
