The Faroese Municipal Employers’ Association (KAF) and the Healthcare Workers’ Union resumed negotiations at 13:00 today after earlier talks broke down, KVF reports.
Representatives from both sides met at the mediator’s office at 09:00, presenting their positions before discussions paused shortly before noon. Mediator Terje Sigurðsson described the morning session as constructive and confirmed that both parties had used the intervening time to prepare for the afternoon talks.
Mary Antonsdóttir, chair of the Healthcare Workers’ Union, said ahead of the meeting that her team had reviewed figures overnight which would be useful in today’s discussions. She declined to elaborate further, referring questions to the mediator.
The previous collective bargaining agreement expired on 1 October last year. Two weeks ago, a mediation attempt collapsed when both sides rejected the proposed one-year deal—the union citing insufficient pay, and the employers deeming it too costly.
