The 18-year-old accused of murdering Tamima Nibras Juhar in Oslo last August admitted in court to stabbing her at least 69 times, Dagbladet reports.

Prosecutors described the killing as premeditated and racially motivated, noting the victim was chosen for being a dark-skinned Muslim woman. She was asleep in her nightclothes and completely defenceless when attacked, according to police prosecutor Oda Karterud.

Wilms told investigators he began planning murders of Muslims two months earlier, purchasing cargo pants, marching boots, a helmet, and the murder weapon—a hunting knife—before the attack. He also watched documentaries about terrorists Anders Behring Breivik and Philip Manshaus.

In his police interview, Wilms described the victim pleading, “Please don’t kill me,” and attempting to kick him. He acknowledged using superior strength. Prosecutors argued the brutality—using the term “overkill” as an understatement—indicates an intense intent to kill.

State prosecutor Cecilie Schløsser Møller sought preventive detention, calling a fixed prison term indefensible. She cited the planned nature, racist motive, extreme brutality, and Wilms’ own admission that he had looked forward to the killing, even laughing during the attack.

After his arrest, Wilms reportedly smiled while telling police he had “completed his mission,” confirming he had stabbed and killed the victim. He later stated he now found the act “terrible,” though he had felt pride and adrenaline at the time.

Juhar, 34, worked with vulnerable children and was on duty at a child welfare aftercare facility when she was killed. Prosecutors noted Wilms had deceived her to avoid suspicion, calling the act “limitlessly cynical.”
