Daycare worker fined for assaulting 3-year-old in Ylöjärvi

A daycare worker in Ylöjärvi has been fined for physically assaulting a 3-year-old child, Pirkanmaa District Court ruled.

The assault occurred in January 2025, when the worker grabbed the child by the arm and dragged them into another room, causing the child pain. The court stated the act could not be considered minor due to the child’s age and the worker’s position.

The worker admitted to the offence. The ruling was based in part on a written statement from a psychologist.

The court imposed 30 day-fines and ordered the worker to pay the victim €700 in compensation for pain, distress, and temporary psychological harm.
