Finnish sparkling water brand Vellamo has been named the world’s best in a blind tasting conducted by wine site Tastingbook.com, outperforming global brands such as Evian, Voss, and S. Pellegrino.
A second-place finish went to Germany’s Nevas Water, with Norway’s Voss in third.
The water, sourced from a natural mineral spring in Viikinäisi, Heinola, is marketed by Ice Age Water as originating from the Ice Age, over 10,000 years ago. Judges praised its soft and rich taste, as well as the design of its glass bottle.
Vellamo water is sold in high-end hotels in Finland and abroad. Last October, Yle reported that Vellamo had signed a multi-year sponsorship deal with Formula 1 team Haas.
