Metsä Wood cuts 100 jobs in Finland and Estonia after restructuring talks
Finnish wood products manufacturer Metsä Wood will eliminate 100 positions in Finland and Estonia following completed restructuring negotiations, the company announced Wednesday.
The changes will result in 72 layoffs or altered job roles, according to a statement from the Metsä Group subsidiary. The company cited weakened profitability and shifts in its operating environment as reasons for the cuts.
Metsä Wood employs approximately 1,600 people across its operations. The restructuring talks began in May and primarily affected the company’s Punkaharju sawmill in Finland.
