Severe drought conditions continue across Finland despite recent rainfall, according to the latest assessment by the Finnish Environment Institute’s flood centre.

Groundwater levels remain unusually low for this time of year in eastern, central, and southern regions, the report states. In an area stretching from North Karelia to Pirkanmaa, many medium-sized and smaller lakes have dropped to their lowest recorded levels for the season.
