The Berlin Philharmonic will perform at Turku’s Fuuga concert hall on May 1, 2027, as part of its annual Europakonzert series, marking the first time the world-renowned orchestra has played in the Finnish city, Yle reports.
The Europakonzert, held since 1991, is an international concert series staged at culturally significant sites across Europe and broadcast globally. Turku’s mayor, Piia Elo, called the event a “historic moment” for the city and Finnish musical life, emphasizing its role in bringing top-tier international artistry to local audiences.
Conductor Kirill Petrenko, the orchestra’s chief conductor, will lead the performance, with Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes as soloist. The program includes Jean Sibelius’s Öinen ratsastus ja auringonnousu, Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto, and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony.
The concert is a collaboration between the Turku Music Festival, the Berlin Philharmonic, Fuuga, and Finnish broadcaster Yle, with funding from the City of Turku and the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
