One dead in head-on collision near Lillestrøm

An elderly man died Monday afternoon in a head-on collision near Lillestrøm, Norwegian police confirmed, with an elderly woman critically injured in the crash.

The accident occurred on County Road 120 (Nedre Rælingsvei) just after 16:20, Øst Police District operations leader Tor Erik Ekker-Moen told Dagbladet. Emergency responders performed CPR on at least one victim at the scene before declaring the man dead. The woman, also in the same vehicle, was airlifted to Oslo University Hospital Ullevål in critical condition.

A third person—the driver of the second vehicle—was transported by ambulance to a local hospital but did not appear to have sustained serious injuries. The road remains closed in both directions due to extensive damage to the vehicles involved.

Police have notified the deceased’s next of kin.
