The Faroese parliamentary ethics committee has closed its investigation into a complaint filed against Steig Nielsen, the minister of fisheries, concluding no further action is warranted.
The committee determined that Nielsen did not intentionally or grossly withhold information when certain supporting documents were not presented during parliamentary debates on amendments to maritime boundary laws. In its ruling, the committee stated that parliament was aware of the documents’ existence and their contents, making it unlikely members were left uninformed.
The complaint was lodged by Óli Jacobsen of Argir, who alleged misconduct by Nielsen in his official capacity.
