Train traffic between Slagelse and Ringsted remains suspended after an overhead power line collapsed near Sorø, state rail operator DSB announced Sunday. Services are not expected to resume before 18:00 at the earliest, though infrastructure manager Banedanmark warned the timeline remains provisional.
“When we say 18:00, it’s a standard estimate made before we even know the extent of the damage or the cause,” Banedanmark press chief Andreas Hald told TV 2. Investigation teams and emergency crews are en route to assess the site, he added, noting a clearer prognosis would follow once the scale of the incident is confirmed.
DSB has arranged replacement bus services between Ringsted, Sorø, and Slagelse, though the operator acknowledged a shortage of available vehicles. Passengers are advised to seek alternative travel options where possible. Buses depart from Ringsted’s station terminal, Sorø’s forecourt, and Slagelse’s bus terminal.
Delays exceeding 30 minutes trigger DSB’s travel guarantee, entitling passengers to partial refunds. Those facing over 60 minutes in delays may use their ticket for a return journey and claim a full refund later. Holders of flexible orange tickets can board any train for the remainder of the day.
The disruption follows repeated recent incidents on Zealand’s rail network. On 26 May, reduced services between Næstved and Copenhagen Central via Ringsted and Køge resulted from a faulty track switch near Copenhagen Syd. The following day, signal failures near Høje Taastrup caused extended travel times on routes between Kalundborg–Copenhagen and Odense–Copenhagen Airport.
Passengers are urged to check the Rejseplanen journey planner for updates, though DSB stressed all timings remain subject to change.
