missing person, norway, police appeal

Norwegian police have appealed for public assistance in locating Ida Sofie Bjørkedal, a 33-year-old woman missing since Sunday after failing to complete a planned drive between Ålesund and Stryn, Dagbladet reports.

Operational leader Espen Andrésen confirmed authorities have exhausted electronic leads, including toll records and phone activity, yielding no trace of Bjørkedal. “We’re at a standstill in the investigation,” Andrésen said, urging anyone with information to contact police at 02800.

Bjørkedal, described as an experienced hiker and former mountain guide, had told family she might attempt one or more hikes during the 3.5-hour journey. Police have asked hikers to check parking areas near trailheads for her black Peugeot Partner, registration XR58338. “Without a starting point in the mountains, we rely entirely on public tips,” Andrésen stated.
