Sweden’s national day will bring alternating sun and rain across the country, according to meteorologists at public broadcaster SVT.

The weather service described conditions as a “nail-biter” for those planning outdoor celebrations on Saturday, with forecasts showing rapid shifts between sunshine and showers. No region is expected to remain entirely dry or sunny throughout the day.

Local events, including parades and ceremonies, are scheduled in cities like Karlstad, where Värmland’s official programme features music and public gatherings. Organisers have not announced cancellations, though attendees are advised to prepare for changing conditions.

The national day, marked annually on 6 June, traditionally includes flag-raising ceremonies, concerts, and the king’s address from Stockholm’s royal palace.
