Pilot killed in Kannonkoski small aircraft crash

The pilot of a small aircraft that crashed near an amateur airfield in Kannonkoski, central Finland, on Thursday evening has died, Central Finland police confirmed on Friday.
The plane was carrying only the pilot when it went down in a wooded area adjacent to the airfield around 8:40 pm local time. Authorities have not released further details, citing an ongoing death investigation.
Finland’s Safety Investigation Authority (Otkes) launched an on-site probe into the incident Friday morning and will handle all official communications regarding the crash. Rescue services told Yle reporters at the scene that the aircraft had taken off from the amateur airfield before descending into the forest.
The crash occurred along Hilmonkoskentie road in Kannonkoski.
