A Finnish court has issued a one-year restraining order against the spouse of Sara Seppänen, a first-term MP for the Finns Party, barring them from approaching her home in Rovaniemi or her workplace at the Parliament House in Helsinki, Yle reports.

The Kainuu District Court imposed an extended restraining order, prohibiting all contact attempts and requiring the spouse to stay away from both locations. Seppänen, who filed for divorce, declined to comment on the details, stating only that the matter involved “serious issues concerning my private life and safety” currently under legal review.

“My focus is on ensuring my safety in cooperation with authorities,” she said, requesting media discretion.

Seppänen, a former teacher and Rovaniemi city councillor, was the top vote-getter in her district during the 2023 parliamentary elections.
