Man arrested after assaulting police officer in Leirvík

A man was detained in Leirvík early Thursday after allegedly assaulting a police officer while resisting arrest, Faroese public broadcaster KVF reports.

The incident began when police received a report of vandalism to a vehicle. The car’s owner had witnessed the act and alerted authorities. Officers located the suspect at around 5 a.m., but when they attempted to take him into custody, he turned on one of the officers, leading to his arrest on charges of assaulting police.

The vehicle’s license plates were also reported stolen.
