Authorities in Finland are continuing the search for the remains of Minna Suominen, a mother who vanished 12 years ago. In May, police conducted an extensive search in southwestern Finland, utilizing methods such as dredging and diving, but they found no body parts or any evidence related to Suominen. The investigation leader, Tuomas Kuure, noted that the search was concentrated in one area: the Laajoki River, which flows through Mynämäki, specifically near a bridge on Tiktokeentie, and downstream from that point.

Suominen, who lived in the Pernon district, is believed to have been murdered in January 2012, with her body disposed of in nearby waters. Last year, the Southwest Finland police sought the public’s assistance in identifying possible locations for where her remains might have been discarded. Investigators pinpointed the area around the bridge on Tiktokeentie as a significant site fitting the description provided during their investigations.

In 2012, a man who claimed involvement in the disposal of the body provided a detailed description of a possible disposal site. However, authorities confirmed that he is not a suspect in the murder case, and his recollections were vague. Kuure emphasized that finding the body is not essential for solving the case, stating there is uncertainty about whether they searched the correct area and that the chances of discovery diminish with time.

Currently, the police await one final statement before potentially moving forward with charges, which could occur in September. The suspect in the case has not been detained during this renewed phase of the investigation.
